Product-minded Software Engineer (Senior)
Ramat Gan • Hybrid • Full-time
About the job
At Laguna Health, we're not just building software - we're transforming lives.
Laguna is a digital health company leveraging GenAI to help care managers handle large caseloads more efficiently, while maintaining high-quality, personalized support. Our platform identifies risk barriers and automates interventions to improve care and reduce costs. Backed by clinical trials and actuarial research, our impact is proven for success.
AI has changed what "engineer" means. Writing code is no longer the bottleneck — deciding what to build, how to architect it, and whether it's actually good is.
We're looking for a Product Engineer: someone who thinks like an owner, operates like an architect, and uses AI as leverage to ship high-quality features in short cycles. You'll work inside a small pod (1-4 people, alongside a designer and a product person), owning a feature end-to-end rather than executing a slice of one.
What You'll Do
- Own features end-to-end: from capturing and articulating a rough requirement, through solution design, build, ship, and iteration.
- Use AI-assisted development (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) as your primary leverage — shifting your own time toward design, review, and judgment rather than typing code.
- Make architectural calls that are efficient, scalable, and secure, and catch bad patterns before they calcify into technical debt.
- Operate inside a small, multidisciplinary pod — partnering directly with a designer and a product person, contributing to the full lifecycle: usability, testing, deployment, documentation, and user training, not just code.
- Exercise product judgment: distinguish good ideas from bad ones, and push back or propose alternatives when a request doesn't hold up.
- Move in short sprints, shipping real, measurable increments rather than long-cycle projects.
What You Bring
- Strong engineering fundamentals (fullstack, ideally TypeScript / Node.js / React) — enough depth to be dangerous with AI tools, not dependent on them.
- Product intuition: you can take an ambiguous ask and turn it into a well-scoped, sensible solution without heavy hand-holding.
- Architectural judgment: you understand trade-offs in performance, scalability, and security well enough to make good calls solo.
- Fluency with modern AI-assisted development workflows, and the judgment to direct them toward production-grade output rather than just accept what they generate.
- Fast learner, curious by default — comfortable picking up new domains (including healthcare) quickly.
- Comfortable owning ambiguity and full-lifecycle delivery: you don't wait for a spec, a designer's final file, or someone else to write the tests.
Nice-to-Have:
- Prior experience as a technical founder, early startup engineer, or freelancer who owned client work end-to-end.
- Experience in healthcare or digital health technologies.
- Experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock) into production workflows.
We're looking for someone who:
- Thinks like an owner, not a ticket-taker — treats the feature's success as theirs, not just the code inside it.
- Has the instincts of a small-startup founder: product sense, technical judgment, and bias to ship.
- Wants real autonomy and ownership — control large scope inside a company with product-market fit and support already in place.
- Thrives in a small, fast, multidisciplinary pod rather than a large, siloed team.
- Communicates clearly with non-engineers (designers, product, clinicians) and comfortably challenges requirements that don't make sense.
What we offer:
- Real ownership — end-to-end scope over features, not tickets, inside small autonomous pods.
- Impactful work that directly shapes the future of healthcare and improves lives.
- Cutting-edge tooling, including GenAI, LLMs, and modern AI-assisted development workflows.
- Hybrid flexibility – work from home and our Ramat Gan office, located near public transportation.
- Perks and benefits including competitive salary, Cibus meal plan, team events, happy hours, and more.
